Kate In Panama

After completing a 2 year Management Training Program I was given an amazing opportunity to Expat to a foreign country. After quite a few “come to jesus” meetings with myself I selected Panama as my new home for the next 2 years. I actually applied to Panama thinking that I could get the greatest tan of my life and live like Jimmy  Buffett for a few years. I soon realized that the tan fades during the week while I work as a Corporate Slave and some Jimmy Buffett adventures leave you with a bad hangover in the morning.  The transition from the United States to Panama has been an interesting one to say the least. You are more than welcome to read my past posts and enjoy my future experiences as I encounter the language barrier and cultural differences that make an Expat assignment an unforgettable experience.

Few Goals to achieve over the next 2 years: - Come back with the greatest tan of my life- Update: It is rainy season so I am actually the palest I have been in my life..I do not frequent the tanning bed here like I did in the States -

Learn Spanish- Update: Slowly coming along… I get the most practice after a few Cubra Libras and I let my guard down

- Appreciate a more laid back approach to life – “manana philosophy”- Update: Manama philosphy is cool when you want to stop and smell the roses a bit more but this philosphy is just plain horrible when you are trying to get things accomplished

 - Be able to Salsa Dance  Update: I have not been able to graduate to the dancing with boys part of this.. I just can’t bring myself to let them lead.

-NEW GOAL- Learn to Sail

 -NEW GOAL- Raise the money to repaint the Embera School Building and provide them with a correct world map.
